Stelios (Stylianos) P. Kympouropoulos, MS.c., Greece was born in Athens, Greece. He graduated with honors from high school in 2003. Then, in 2010, he received his medical degree with honors, graduating from the University of Athens. In early 2011 he started his expertise in the specialty of Psychiatry and by the middle of summer 2016, he would have acquired his title as Psychiatrist. He owns a Masters Degree on the topic of “Promotion of Mental Health Prevention of Psychiatric Disorder” and at this time he accomplished his 2-year-course on human sexuality. In 2012 he took part in the study session “Supporting Young Disabled People to Become Future Leaders of the Independent Living Movement” which was organized by ENIL in co-operation with the Youth Department of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.
He is one of the trainers of Study Session 2016 which will be about the sexuality of disabled people. He had the idea to establish the first association that deals with the issues of Independent Living and he, thus, is one co-founders of “i-Living – Independent Living Organization of Greece”. He has also worked with ENIL as coordinator of Greece in order to support the Network. Finally, he is the author of papers covering topics such as the foundations and philosophy of Independent Living, and disability in general and he has participated and talked in conferences with main topics concerning the Greek society and disability. During his lifespan, he has been awarded from various institutions and social groups for his advocacy.
