ENIL Freedom Drive is starting in less than nine months – what has been planned so far?
Save the Date – 27 January 2017 – Roundtable “Ensuring children’s rights in the context of deinstitutionalisation in Belgium”
Eurochild in collaboratino with ENIL organises a round table on the experiences of deinstitutionalisation in a Belgiuan context, taking place on 27th January 2017, from 13:00h to 16:00h on the premises of Kind en Gezin (Hallepoortlaan 27, 1060 Brussels).
ENIL is pleased to share with you a story about an empowering campaign that disabled women in Bosnia and Herzegovina recently organised. They were the first in the country daring to challenge public attitudes towards disabled women and achieved great success.
The study session “All in – creating inclusive and empowering spaces for all”, coordinated by IFM-SEI and ENIL, in partnership with the Youth Department of the Council of Europe took place between 13th and 20th November 2016 in the European Youth Centre Strasbourg, France.
We can now confirm the venues for the different events during the Freedom Drive. The ENIL General Assembly, the conference and the celebration will take place at the Brussels Autoworld on 27 September.
Brussels, 29 November – Tomorrow, on 30 November, the European Network on Independent Living (ENIL) will hold a roundtable on disability hate crime.
ENIL is pleased to invite you to a roundtable on disability hate crime on 30 November, and a speed-dating event on Independent Living and development cooperation on 5 December.
On 24th-25th September 2016 a Peer Support Training took place in Sofia, Bulgaria. It was organised jointly by the European Network on Independent Living (ENIL) and the Centre for Independent Living – Sofia (CIL-Sofia).
The ENIL Freedom Drive 2017 will be dedicated to Martin Naughton who was the main person behind the event. ENIL feels the great loss of Martin and wants to remember Martin by dedicating the 2017 Freedom Drive to him.
From 5 – 9 September, the European Network on Independent Living – ENIL organised a study visit on deinstitutionalisation in Stockholm, Sweden.

ENIL announces that the ENIL 2017 Freedom Drive will take place in a little more than one year from now with the theme – “Investment in the future! A voice for All! Children’s voices are to be heard!”
The ENIL Youth Network shares with you the report from the third ENIL study session, jointly organised with the Youth Department of the Council of Europe. It took place in the European Youth Centre in Strasbourg between 17th and 24th April 2016.
This year, the Independent Living organization in Norway – ULOBA celebrates 25 years. Their Pride March, organized every year in June, has brought together hundreds of Independent Living followers, making the event stronger than ever.
This year, the third European Independent Living Day was celebrated in Europe (and beyond!) with the presence of 30 countries. As Jamie Bolling (ENIL’s Executive Director) said back in 2014 – this day “aims to foster unity for disabled people and our supporters and to also raise awareness of Independent Living”
The ENIL Youth Network wants to share with you the success of the third ENIL study session, jointly organised with the Youth Department of the Council of Europe (17-24 April). It was entitled “Supporting young disabled people to explore sexuality and relationships as integral to their social inclusion and independent living” and brought together 22 young disabled people from 13 European countries.
On Friday, 13th May, Aleksandra Surla, board member of the ENIL Youth Network, had the opportunity to join the final National Meeting between Youth and Local Decision Makers, organised in cooperation with the Slovenian Youth Council and the Youth Network MaMa.
