Under the umbrella theme “Things I Can Do Thanks to Independent Living”, the 4th European Independent Living Day was celebrated by around 50 Centres for Independent Living, and other organizations, as well as individuals of the Independent Living Movement in more than 30 countries around and well beyond Europe (even in Iraq!). The increasing involvement of young people in the campaign across Europe is a promising prospect for the Independent Living Movement in reaching equality, dignity and inclusion for all disabled people in society.
Conferences, panel discussions, photography contests, film screenings, as well as demonstrations and performances made the 4th European Independent Living Day a great success! Videos, photos and any other information related to the 5 May celebrations were widely shared on social media platforms with the #ILDay17 hashtag.
The Independent Living Day was not only an exciting celebration but was also important in raising awareness about the vitality of support services such as Personal Assistance for the Independent Living of disabled people around Europe.
We are pleased to share with you the Report on the numerous activities, photos, videos and articles highlighting yet another successful campaign for Independent Living!
