On 20th March, the European Network on Independent Living (ENIL), the European Citizen Action Service (ECAS) and the European Disability Forum (EDF), with the financial support of the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust, organised a workshop entitled ‘The Implications of BREXIT for the rights of disabled people in the UK’. The workshop, held in London, was part of the project “Brexit Takeaways”. Its aim was to look at the impact Brexit is likely to have on the rights of disabled people and the work of disabled people’s organisations (DPOs), and to discuss how disabled people and their organisations can have a stronger voice in the in the ongoing Brexit negotiations.
ENIL, ECAS and EDF are now launching a report from the workshop, which can be used by DPOs and allies for ideas on how to get more involved in the Brexit negotiations, and what could be some of the demands. The report is available here.
Other materials which may be useful are ENIL’s Briefing on the impact of Brexit, with a focus on Independent Living – available here – and Disability Rights UK’s research and manifesto – available here.
