Miro Griffiths at the Council of Europe – on Disability Rights Activism

On 2nd February, the Council of Europe hosted an hour long session on its Facebook platform to discuss a diverse range of topics pertaining to disablement, activism and policy development. Nigel Smith from the Communication Directorate at the Council of Europe interviewed Miro Griffiths – a former ENIL Board member, former United Kingdom Government Adviser and currently a teacher and researcher at Liverpool John Moores University. Miro was asked to reflect on the perceived achievements of social movements thus far and concerns as to the potential direction of disability strategies. He emphasised the need from “shifting the debate from a medical one to a human rights perspective”.

The interview transcript of the discussion can be found here.
