Holders of the scholarship for the memory of Rolf Bergfors By Jessica Linder Jansson

In a previous post we wrote about the Foundation Fund setablished in the memory of Rolf Bergfors, who through his work in GIL helped to push through the assistance reform in Sweden.

We can now announce that this year’s beneficiaries of the scholarship are:

Anna Hallgren get the travelling award at 10 000 Swedish crowns to be able to participate at a conference held in London for people with the muscular disease Nemaline myopathy. The goal is to start a network for people with Nemaline myopathy living in the Nordic countries.

Elisabeth Lundberg get as representative for the Swedish association Attention a travelling award at 25 000 Swedish crowns that will make sure that two members of the association will be able to make a study tour to Rush Neurobehaviorial Center in Chicago and other places with the same sort of activity. Good Example: Accessibility App by Erik Ljungberg; ENIL Board Member

Last year, the Swedish Gothenburg Cooperative for Independent Living (Göteborgskooperativet för Independent Living, GIL) ran a campaign to improve accessibility at bars and restaurants. Each week, it published the names and photos of three restaurants with barriers that could easily be removed on their website. It also highlighted several good examples of accessibility. During the campaign, nine restaurants took concrete steps to improve accessibility thanks to this publicity.

GIL also instituted a prize of € 6,000 for good ideas about how to improve accessibility at bars and restaurants. The prize, which was conferred in conjunction with GIL’s accessibility seminar held on April 5 of this year, was awarded to ENIL board member Erik Ljungberg for his accessibility project: a website and a phone app that makes it easy to find accessible restaurants.
