Disability Rights Defenders (a project of the Independent Living Institute, Sweden) and the European Network on Independent Living are holding a webinar focused on aging with disabilities in the community. The webinar will take place on 6th February at 15:00 – 17:00 CET.
About the webinar:
Article 19 of the CRPD states the equal right of all persons with disabilities to live in the community, with choices equal to others. Even though this right applies to people of all ages, many elderly people with disabilities are forced to live in institutions.
In this webinar we want to present and discuss examples of good legislation and practice for giving older persons with disabilities real choices regarding services and housing in the community.
We are proud to announce the following speakers:
Judy Heumann, American disability rights activist
Eric Rosenthal, founder and executive director of Disability Rights International (DRI)
Eve Hill, American disability rights attorney and co-leader of Inclusivity Strategic Consulting Group
Ines Bulic Cojocariu, Deputy Director at European Network on Independent Living (ENIL)
Gerard Quinn, professor of law at the University of Leeds and at the Wallenberg Institute in the University of Lund, Sweden
Adolf Ratzka, founder of the Independent Living Institute (ILI) in Sweden
The webinar will be moderated by Judy Heumann and Adolf Ratzka.
The webinar will take place online, using the accessible software Zoom. Details will be emailed to all registered participants in advance of the webinar.
We invite disabled people, DPOs, lawyers, law professors, law students and everyone interested in disability rights to join the webinar.
