On 19th June 2015 the Slovenian Deinstitututionalization Network will hold an International Conference on Deinstitutionalization in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The event will aim to review the Network’s work in the past year and to audit implementation of measures that will enable the development of harmonious and permanent community-based services. Focus will be put on essential tasks to successfully complete the process of deinstitutionalization and to implement specific community-based services.
Slovenia has to start the process of deinstitutionalisation and Sweden’s good practice example would only be beneficial. “With the process of closing down the institutions there also has to be enough services in the community to guarantee independent living to all disabled people. Personal assistance must become the right of every person, regardless of the type of impairment” – this is what our allies from ‘YHD-Društvo za teorijo in kulturo hendikepa’ are convinced in. Their study visit, together with ‘Soncek’ is part of the Deinstitutionalisation Network project.
Agenda can be found here.
