Monitoring the UN CRPD in Montenegro.

Enable webpageOn May 26th  a Coalition for monitoring the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) was established in Bar, Montenegro. This Coalition is composed of 24 local and national DPO-s. The Montenegrin Government has signed and ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disability – UNCRPD and are now under the obligation to write and publish a report on the implementation of the UNCRPD inMontenegro. DPO-s decided to commit themselves to work together in order to monitor the implementation of the CRPD and to write and present the Shadow Report based on the information acquired during the monitoring process.

The aim of this report is to present a real situation regarding implementation of the Convention, as well as to state the degree of respect of human rights of persons with disabilities inMontenegro.

All parties obliged themselves to delegate their representatives to actively participate in the immediate work group to create the Shadow Report, as well as to actively participate in the consultation process that will follow the draft version of the report.

Because of the importance of the report and its findings, all parties took the decision to keep the contents of the report confidential until publish date.

The Coalition is open to other organizations of persons with disabilities and human rights organizations that would like to join.
