The Independent (Living) Media Project, implemented by the ENIL Youth Network and funded by the EYF annual grant, needs your input!
The first stage of our year-long project is underway, and we have launched a survey about disability representation, narratives and stereotypes in the media.
Our focus is now on the experiences, views, and attitudes of two key groups: disabled young people and young people working in media, as professionals (journalists, presenters, filmmakers, reporters), students, or by creating content on digital platforms, as bloggers and influencers.
We’re working to reshape how disability is represented in broadcast media and on digital platforms, because we know no young person wants to be walking the line between inspiration and pity. Authentic representation, based in dignity and the full human experience, is an integral part of embracing diversity.
By taking part in this project, you’ll become part of the change, urging media to transform the narratives. The insights we collect will guide the next stages of the project, including interviews, Instagram live sessions, podcasts, and workshops.
If you’re a young disabled person or media professional, we encourage you to take part in the survey and be a voice in creating a more inclusive, empowering and rights-based media landscape.
This survey is open to all Council of Europe Member States.
