Bound to the wheelchair.” We’ve heard that phrase far too often.
But what if the real limitation lies not in bodies—but in the scripts written about them?
Join us for “Bound To The Script”, a powerful three-part online workshop series unpacking how disability is portrayed in the media. A space where we challenge the clichés, expose the impact of “inspirational” storytelling, and explore how to create authentic narratives that reflect real disabled lives. We are opening the conversation for all interested media workers, students, influencers and disabled people to press Alt, Shift, or Delete, and rewrite the narrative!
We are inviting you to join us for three online workshops focused on representation, misrepresentation, and narratives around disability in the media in the upcoming weeks:
- Disability in the Media: Stereotypes & Language on April 22, 18:00-19:30 CEST
- Inspirational Narratives and Their True Impacts on April 29, 18:00-19:30 CEST
- Portraying Authentic Characters and Stories on May 6, 18:00-19:30 CEST
You are welcome to register for as many workshops as you like – one, two or all three.
- The workshops will take place on the Zoom platform.
- Captioning and interpretation into international sign language will be provided throughout the workshops.
The registration link for all three workshops can be found here.
