Why should having fun be considered a luxury for disabled people? Going out, partying, travelling, enjoying music, visiting cultural spaces or simply spending time with friends are ordinary parts of life. Yet disabled people continue to face barriers that limit their opportunities to enjoy these experiences on an equal basis with others.
Join us for the next ENIL Youth Café, dedicated to the right to recreation, leisure and culture!
Together, we will explore what having a good time means to us, discuss the barriers disabled people encounter when accessing leisure and cultural activities, and consider what needs to change to make these experiences genuinely inclusive and accessible.
Grounded in Article 30 of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and Articles 24 and 27 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), our discussion will highlight why the right to enjoy life, participate in cultural activities and spend our free time as we choose is an essential part of independent living and human rights.
