From the 8th March – 1st April, the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD Committee) will hold its 24th session – the session will take place online, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. During the session, the Committee will hold an online constructive dialogue with Estonia, after which it will publish the Concluding Observations on the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in the country.

On this occasion, ENIL wrote to the CRPD Committee and set out our main concerns about the implementation of Article 19 CRPD. We focused on two issues: the use of the European Union funds for the construction of institutions, and the availability of personal assistance, as a key tool for independent living.

The constructive dialogue with the Government will take place on the 12th, 15th and the 17th of March at 12:30, and can be followed on UN Web TV. A private meeting between disabled people’s organisations (DPOs) and the Committee will take place on the 10th March.
