The CRPD Committee has published its “Draft guidelines on Deinstitutionalisation, including in Emergencies” and calls for comments on them to be submitted, by June 30th the latest. You can find the draft (in English) and the requirements for written comments on the CRPD Committee website here. Soon, the draft will be available in other languages, including Spanish, French and Easy to Read.
The Global Coalition on Deinstitutionalisation (GC-DI) supports the Committee in the preparation of the guidelines. The GC-DI would like to ensure broad participation of persons with disabilities and their organisations, including people living in institutions and survivors of institutionalisation, in the process of the public consultation.
The GC-DI will hold a one hour online webinar on June 2nd at 2 pm, aiming to explain the background of the Draft Guidelines, their purpose and key elements, and to inform all those who wish to have a say about how they can contribute to the public consultation.
