The hearing brings together disabled advocates, Independent Living organisations, Members of the European Parliament and European Commission representatives to examine current funding practices and what needs to change.
Discussions will explore:
- EU funding for disability services, Independent Living and personal assistance.
- Lessons from how funding is allocated in practice.
- The obligations of the EU and its Member States under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
- How the next EU budget can support choice, control and inclusion.
The hearing is hosted by MEPs Katrin Langensiepen, Krzysztof Śmiszek and Catarina Martins.
