The EU Disability Strategy 2021-2025 has brought us the Guidance to Member States on Independent Living and inclusion in the community which might mobilise more funding for Independent Living.

The Concluding Observations of the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the results of the ENIL Independent Living Survey show that more needs to be done to achieve lasting progress. The Independent Living Survey 2024 revealed that disabled people are affected by major barriers preventing them from accessing services. In our input to the EU Disability Strategy 2026-2030 ENIL proposed concrete solutions.

Which topics and initiatives should the EU Disability Strategy 2026-2030 pursue so that disabled people will be able to enjoy their right to Independent Living?

Our event will provide answers to this questions by featuring people with lived experience who are high standing experts on the topic of Independent Living. We will present the results of our Independent Living Survey and policy recommendations for change. Key stakeholders from the EU Institutions will react to the input provided and present their vision on which policy options we should pursue.
