On 13 January 2026, we will be marking one year since the sad loss of our co-founder, former President, Independent Living pioneer, and dear friend John Evans OBE (25 May 1950 – 13 January 2025). On this occasion, together with John’s widow Jana Bleckmann-Evans, we are inviting you to an online memorial to celebrate his life and achievements.
During the memorial, which will be led by Jana Bleckmann-Evans and Ines Bulic Cojocariu, we will hear short speeches from John’s friends and allies: Jamie Bolling, Gerry Zarb, Kamil Goungor and Miro Griffiths. We will also watch some archive footage of John and a video collection of moving tributes by friends and colleagues.

Any additional contributions and memories of John, including those posted during the memorial, will be published on the website Remembering John Evans.
