We are introducing our second EVS volunteer,  28-year-old Lauri Heikkinen from Finland. Like Miriam, who you heard from earlier, he will also be working with the Brussels office team until the end of August. His work at ENIL will mostly be on EU disability policy alongside Frank, with particular emphasis on freedom of movement of disabled people. Having worked with many of the leading DPO’s in his home country of Finland, he has solid experience of disability rights advocacy and is keen to put all this to use in an international context while at ENIL. Given his background in modern languages, he is a passionate internationalist interested in different cultures, intercultural dialogue and international cooperation.
In his spare time, Lauri likes to keep up to date on current affairs and never says no to a movie, especially a good political thriller. Living in Brussels, he now has no excuse not  to practise French, which  also takes up a good deal of his time!
