During May and June, we have three volunteers joining the ENIL Team. Peadar O’Dea is part of our 8-month long European Solidarity Corps programme and will be based at the Brussels Office, while the other two volunteers will work remotely for approximately 3 months. Áine Kelly-Costello
“Hello! I’m a blind and chronically ill campaigner and freelancer from Aotearoa New Zealand currently living in Norway. In the last few years, I’ve worked as a community organiser campaigning for accessibility legislation in NZ, as a journalist, and on disability-related multimedia and research projects. I’m especially interested in anything at the intersections between disability, climate justice and media (having just about completed my thesis on the latter two!). Claudia Perucha Martínez-Atienza
“My name is Claudia and I’m a Philosophy, Politics and Economics junior student from Madrid, Spain. My adventure with ENIL started back in 2020 when I decided to stand up for my rights and find a personal assistant for my Erasmus+ exchange. Some of the main values that drive my passion in life include social impact, enrichment of diversity, and promotion of self-determination. Right now, I have the great opportunity of volunteering in the ENIL to transform rage into action and change!”
Peadar O’Dea
“I am 29 years of age and I am from the Republic of Ireland. I was selected as an ESC volunteer for ENIL in 2020, and I just started at the beginning of this month. I have a background in disability activism, studying the MA in Disability Studies at the University Of Leeds, from 2015-2017 and creating a disabled people’s organisation in the city of Leeds, in the UK called Leeds Disabled People’s Organisation (LDPO). I have also participated in UNCRPD consultations for Independent Living Movement Ireland (ILMI) and taken part in international disability activism with Reclaiming Our Future Alliance International Committee (ROFAIC). In my free time, I enjoy music, reading and attempting to write fiction.”
