Martine Eliasson is a political adviser at Uloba – Independent Living Norway. She lives in Levanger, Norway, and has a background in social work and a master’s degree in Disability studies. Martine has long experience within the disability rights movement, particularly in peer-to-peer support and youth empowerment. She has served as deputy leader of NHFU Trøndelag and as a central board member of NHFU, the youth organization of the Norwegian Association of the Disabled.
Martine coordinates political campaigns, writes consultations, and leads advocacy efforts at both national and local levels. She has played a key role in campaigns pushing for the incorporation of the CRPD into Norwegian law and in developing a new legal framework for personal assistance (BPA). She also represents Uloba in international networks and has spoken at European workshops on Independent Living and citizen-controlled personal assistance.
Combining her personal experience as a disabled woman with a professional commitment to equality, Martine works to promote self-determination, full citizenship, and the recognition of disability as a natural part of human diversity.
While serving on the ENIL Board, Martine would like to strengthen youth participation and ensure that young disabled voices are heard and included in shaping the Independent Living movement across Europe.
