The 12th of August is celebrated as the International Youth Day and below you can read the messages* of some of the board members of the ENIL Youth Network:

Nora Eklöv: “Today it’s the International Youth Day! Children and youth are the future. I want to highlight some challenges that children and young persons with disabilities experience, because what affects children and youth in our society today will shape the future.

Not all schools are fully accessible to pupils with disabilities. Children across Europe still experience the lack of accessibility in school that affects the possibility to take part in education. But it also affects the social life at school, the possibility to make friends and to be a friend. I want to see that Europe ensures fully inclusive education for ALL children no matter accessibility needs or financial situation.

I also want to highlight the right to personal assistance at school and at home. It is important because it is about the right of a child to be a child and the right of parents to be just parents. For the right of children and young persons to manage their everyday-lives, to have social lives and to take on responsibilities. To ensure their right to independent living.
Happy International Youth Day 2021! We shape the future.”

Clementine Willow Doevendans: “If you feel like you are “failing” or not good enough because you don’t seem to fit in… and nothing seems to go as planned.

Breathe in, allow yourself to reflect and connect to your inner truth.

The beauty of life is: YOU will always be there to create your own path, where you can be you and grow within and without yourself♡

Warm wishes on international youth day”

Fatma Bulić: “Life starts when you start believing in yourself. So before anything else, start believing in yourself and the world will believe you..
Warm wishes on International Youth Day. ❤”

Miroslava-Mima Ivanović: “Persons with disabilities include those who have long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments which in interaction with various barriers may hinder their full and effective participation in society on an equal basis with others. ” – Article 1 Paragraph 2 of the CRPD.

An impairment is just one of your characteristics and you are much stronger and important than any barrier! Be happy, free, and dignified! Happy International Youth Day! ❤”

Marijeta Mojašević: “Young people are inevitable part of population worldwide that is going through big changes-those which are mandatory and connected to their age and those which are global and connected to that part of the medal. We all should help them to overcome obstacles and become citizens of the world! Happy International Youth Day!”

Happy International Youth Day everyone!
